【107-1】CTBC and the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) Adding A New Page to International Exchange as Partner Schools

The International Center actively seeks overseas friendship to achieve substantive cooperation in order to expand the international academic exchange. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston, President Dr. Muñoz and the team of the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) visited CTBC Business School (CTBC) and received warm greetings from President Shih, Dean of Academic Office, and Director of the International Center. Both institutions signed the MOU and became partner schools.

The University of Houston-Downtown was founded in 1974, and the university offers a bachelor's degree in 44 fields and 6 master's degrees for students studying at the school's downtown metropolitan campus. During the talks, the principals of the two universities not only discussed the various teacher-student exchange programs, but also the overseas learning program that is fully funded by CTBC Financial Holding, which was greatly appreciated by Dr. Muñoz. He indicated that UHD can be listed as another place for the program in the future, allowing students to get close to the fourth largest city in the United States, and the largest financial and economic center on the Gulf Coast. In addition, after learning that the students are required to complete the required courses for golf and tennis taught by professional coaches, President Muñoz expressed his approval that CTBC dedicated in full heart cultivating students to become international financiers.

Now that the two schools have met and become partners, President Shih expects the two universities to target the double-degree program for this international academic establishment, so the students can achieve their master's degree in the United States more effectively and enrich their international financial vision. Whether it is to invite UHD teachers to come to Taiwan, or the exchange student program, he also encourages CTBC students to improve their foreign language ability during their study, and prepare for the examination of the international language verification certificate. Only when you are well prepared can you grasp the overseas study opportunities among all.
